A Certified Safety Officer in the Philippines inspects job sites, enforces health protocols, and ensures full compliance with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regulations—specifically DOLE DO 198-18 (Implementing Rules of the Occupational Safety and Health Law). Responsible for ensuring the safety of workers at the construction site and maintaining all safety-related documentation and records. Prioritize and protect the company's interests while ensuring compliance with site safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Conduct daily and weekly safety walkthroughs to check scaffolding, heavy equipment, excavations, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Lead daily pre-work safety briefings to educate workers on site-specific hazards and safe work methods
Implement Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC) and manage the Permit-to-Work system for high-risk tasks like hot works or working at heights
Investigate accidents, near-misses, and injuries, then submit corrective action reports to the Project Manager
Maintain required OSH reports, safety logs, and DOLE/BWC documentation
Completion of the mandatory 40-hour BOSH (Basic Occupational Safety and Health) or COSH (Construction Occupational Safety and Health) training from an accredited DOLE organization
Typically 2 to 3 years of experience in safety roles within the construction or engineering sector
