Bon Secours Mercy Health in the Philippines is seeking a Risk Specialist to support loss prevention, risk mitigation, claim management, and insurance activities. This role involves data management, presentation development, and dissemination of information in alignment with Ministry standards.

The position collaborates with multiple departments, analyzes claim trends, and supports international and property insurance programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related fields.
• 3+ years in Risk Management, Quality, Operations or Administration in Healthcare or an Insurance Organization.
• Experience supporting U.S. teams or global shared services environments (preferred).
• CPHRM certification preferred; required within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports proactive risk prevention activities and documents findings and follow-ups.
• Reviews defense counsel invoices and supports claim payment processes and reconciliation.
• Monitors risk and insurance queries across centralized inboxes and routes accordingly.
• Coordinates intake of contract and insurance-related inquiries to appropriate teams.
• Assists with closed claim analysis and reporting of trends.
• Supports defense counsel engagement processes and communications.
• Develops downtime procedures for key electronic systems and tools.
• Manages data, reporting, and information needs for leadership.
• Collaborates across departments to support Ministry needs.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Risk Specialist supports loss prevention, risk mitigation strategies, claim management, and insurance activities and functions through data management, presentation development, information assimilation and dissemination. This role assists with compilation of information required for both reactive and proactive risk and claim management functions including discovery requests, leadership reports and information, educational/meeting materials and incident/claim information evaluation, submission and investigation in alignment with Ministry standards and objectives.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports proactive risk prevention activities for assigned facilities and service lines, including documentation of findings, issues, follow-up items, and related risk initiatives/objectives.
• Reviews defense counsel invoices utilizing approved bill review software and established guidelines, and supports claim payment processes through documentation, tracking, coordination with accounting, appropriate posting, and reconciliation.
• Monitors and manages centralized Risk & Insurance Services inboxes, routing inquiries to appropriate stakeholders and escalating recurring issues or trends.
• Coordinates intake and routing of contract and insurance-related inquiries to the appropriate teams.
• Assists with closed claim analysis activities, including identification and reporting of claim trends, event trends, and claim data in support of risk management initiatives.
• Supports defense counsel for assignment processes, including engagement documentation, billing access setup, and initial communication coordination.
• Develops and maintains downtime procedures and backup coverage processes for key electronic systems and communication platforms, including Origami, Risk Connect, and related tools.
• Supports administration of international and property insurance programs, including coordination of coverage activities.
• Manages and supports data, reporting, and information needs for Risk & Insurance Leadership, including ad hoc requests, leadership reports, strategic initiatives, and information prepared at the direction of Risk Management Leadership team members.
• Collaborates with staff at all levels and across departments to ensure timely response, coordination, and collaboration in support of Ministry needs and objectives.

Licensing/Certification

• CPHRM (Preferred at hire; Required within 3 years of hire)
