Overview
A Retail Sales Assistant is responsible for helping customers in a retail store, ensuring a positive shopping experience, and supporting the store’s sales goals. Duties typically include:
- Customer Service: Greet customers, assist them in finding products, answer questions about merchandise, and offer recommendations.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the products being sold, including features, benefits, and prices to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Stock Management: Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking inventory on shelves. Help maintain product displays and ensure shelves are tidy and well-stocked.
- Sales Transactions: Process customer purchases using a point-of-sale (POS) system, handle payments (cash, card, etc.), and issue receipts.
- Store Maintenance: Ensure the store is clean and organized, including tidying up display areas, cleaning floors, and ensuring products are correctly priced and labeled.
- Handling Returns/Exchanges: Manage customer returns or exchanges in accordance with store policies.
- Promotions and Offers: Inform customers about ongoing promotions, discounts, or special offers, and encourage them to make purchases.
- Visual Merchandising: Assist with setting up window displays or in-store promotions to attract customers.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other sales assistants and store management to achieve sales targets and maintain smooth operations.
- Customer Feedback: Collect customer feedback or complaints and report them to management, striving to improve the overall shopping experience.

- Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, depending on the store's schedule.
