Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' respiratory status and identify care needs.
  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Administer prescribed oxygen therapy and monitor patient response.
  • Assist with mechanical ventilation management and monitoring.
  • Operate and monitor ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, suction machines, and other respiratory equipment.
  • Perform nebulization and other prescribed respiratory treatments.
  • Assist with airway management and respiratory emergencies.
  • Monitor patients on ventilatory and oxygen support and report changes.
  • Perform or assist with pulmonary function testing and related procedures.
  • Collect respiratory specimens and handle transport.

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care to patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary conditions. The position involves assessing patients, performing respiratory treatments and procedures, operating respiratory care equipment, monitoring patient responses, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients' respiratory status and identify respiratory care needs

  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures and treatments as ordered by physicians

  • Administer prescribed oxygen therapy and monitor the patient's response

  • Assist with the management and monitoring of mechanical ventilation

  • Operate and monitor ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, suction machines, and other respiratory equipment

  • Perform nebulization and other prescribed respiratory treatments

  • Assist with airway management and provide appropriate respiratory support during emergencies

  • Monitor patients receiving ventilatory and oxygen support and promptly report changes in condition

  • Perform or assist with pulmonary function testing and other respiratory diagnostic procedures, as applicable

  • Collect respiratory specimens as ordered and follow appropriate procedures for handling and transport

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent recognized qualification

  • Must possess the appropriate professional license/registration required to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Philippines

  • Preferably with relevant hospital experience

  • Knowledgeable in respiratory care procedures, oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, airway management, and emergency respiratory care

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Able to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays, as required
