LEC Steel Manufacturing Corp. in Metro Manila is seeking a Research & Development Officer to drive innovation in steel manufacturing. You will conduct advanced research, analyze data, and report findings to support new products and process improvements.

Qualifications include a relevant bachelor's degree (Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering) and 1–3 years in research, development, or technical analysis within manufacturing or metals. On-site role.

About the role

LEC Steel Manufacturing Corp. is seeking a Research & Development Officer to join our dynamic team in Metro Manila on a full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for conducting advanced research, analysis, and reporting initiatives that drive innovation and improvement within our steel manufacturing operations. This position is critical to our strategic objectives, as you will help us develop new products, optimise existing processes, and maintain our competitive edge in the manufacturing sector. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Metro Manila.

Key responsibilities

1. Conduct comprehensive research and feasibility studies on new steel manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies


2. Design and execute experimental trials to test new formulations, production methods, and product enhancements


3. Analyse test results and manufacturing data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential cost savings


4. Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation on research findings, methodologies, and recommendations


5. Collaborate with production teams to implement research outcomes and optimise manufacturing efficiency


6. Monitor industry developments and competitor activities to identify emerging opportunities and best practices


7. Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and modifications to support quality assurance and compliance


8. Provide technical support and guidance to operational staff on process improvements and product specifications


9. Present research findings and recommendations to senior management and cross-functional teams

What we’re looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline


2. 1-3 years of experience in research, development, or technical analysis within the manufacturing, steel, or metals industry


3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex technical data and draw meaningful conclusions


4. Proficiency in laboratory techniques, testing equipment, and data analysis software relevant to steel manufacturing


5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear technical reports and present findings effectively


6. Proven experience in conducting experiments, documenting results, and maintaining detailed records


7. Familiarity with quality assurance standards, manufacturing regulations, and industry compliance requirements


8. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and engineering departments


9. Knowledge of steel grades, properties, and manufacturing processes is highly desirable


10. Experience with statistical analysis, process optimisation, or continuous improvement methodologies is advantageous
