Job summary

BruntWork is seeking a highly skilled Yardi Property Accountant to own full end-to-end property-level financial reporting for a mixed commercial and residential portfolio. The role requires meticulous data management in Yardi, from daily cash receipts to complex month-end closes, with a remote work setup aligned to U.S.

Central Time business hours. The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of dedicated property accounting experience, strong Yardi proficiency, and solid GAAP knowledge,

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of dedicated property accounting experience within commercial real estate (retail, office, industrial, or mixed-use portfolios).
• Strong, hands-on proficiency in Yardi is non-negotiable; comfortable navigating tenant ledgers, property setups, bank reconciliation tools, and financial report packages.
• In-depth understanding of core accounting principles, General Ledger structures, AR processes, journal entries, and financial statement consolidation.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and modern financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Property Accounting: Take ownership of full-cycle accounting for a designated portfolio of commercial and residential real estate properties, maintaining accurate ledger systems, journal entries, and financial controls.
• Accounts Receivable & Cash Management: Oversee AR workflows, accurately record and allocate daily cash receipts within Yardi, track tenant payment schedules, and handle tenant ledger adjustments.
• Month-End & Year-End Close: Execute complete month-end close procedures, prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries, reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger, and perform preliminary balance sheet reviews.
• Bank & CAM Reconciliations: Perform regular bank account reconciliations and assist in seasonal Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, analyzing and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Produce, review, and deliver timely monthly financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and variance reports for internal stakeholders, property managers, and executives.
• Yardi System Operations & Onboarding: Serve as a subject matter expert in Yardi; maintain pristine system data integrity, assist with setting up new property acquisitions within Yardi, and optimize standard reporting routines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and Property Managers in an internal-facing capacity to ensure operational alignment and property performance clarity.
