Job summary

Wonolo is seeking a Payroll Specialist (W2) to join its Legal Operations team. You will manage weekly W2 payroll for Wonoloers, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and timely processing.

This role offers remote work from the Philippines and exposure to AI-enabled payroll workflows. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with internal tools like Zeal, Wonolo Wizard, and Hypertrack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including cash management and reconciliations.
• Analytical with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Excel with advanced functions (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
• Strong cross-department communication and collaboration.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment and priorities.
• Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).

Responsibilities

• Become an expert on W2 payroll processes and Wonolo's worker experience.
• Master Zeal, Wonolo Wizard, and Hypertrack tools; improve SLAs.
• Ensure data accuracy when onboarding workers into payroll.
• Validate payroll hours and reconcile time for Wednesday processing.
• Notify workers via email and SMS to verify meal breaks.
• Process bonuses, manage sick leave, and adjustments.
• Report issues and coordinate with Tech, Finance, and Ops.
• Respond promptly to payroll inquiries and discrepancies.
• Collaborate to set efficiency and quality goals.
• Promote team morale and adherence to schedules.
• Perform other duties to support W2 operations.
• Identify manual workflows and rebuild AI-native where beneficial.
