Job summary

TeamUp is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of technology startups serving Canadian and US clients. The role emphasizes ownership, accuracy, and clear client communication while operating remotely.

You will lead monthly closes, handle accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting, and collaborate with a small, high-performing team to optimize processes using cloud tools and automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including full-cycle close and financial statement prep.
• North American accounting experience supporting Canadian or US clients; Canadian preferred.
• Experience managing multiple clients or entities in an outsourcing/accounting services setting.
• Strong accrual accounting knowledge with reconciliations, deferrals, and reporting.
• Sound judgment and ownership with proactive problem solving.
• Excellent written and spoken English for client communications.
• Proficiency with Xero and Excel; familiarity with Float/Ramp/Brex is a plus.
• Process-improvement mindset with automation/AI tools to boost accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting outcomes for a portfolio of tech startup clients, ensuring reliable financials.
• Lead monthly close and full-cycle accounting; prepare reports and schedules.
• Communicate with clients via email, Slack, and virtual meetings; provide status updates.
• Coordinate work with the team; review output and resolve questions.
• Support Canadian and US payroll, sales tax, and other compliance workflows.
• Improve templates, controls, and client workflows; adopt cloud/AI tools.
