Job summary

Expansion International Group Ltd is seeking a Principal Engineer to drive architecture and hands-on delivery across data and product surfaces in a fully remote setup based in the Philippines, with alignment to UK business hours.

The role demands at least eight years of software engineering experience, strong agentic coding capabilities, and deep cloud proficiency. You will shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and own end-to-end delivery in a small, autonomous team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with senior-level progression.
• Proven experience with agentic coding and AI-assisted development.
• Strong cloud architecture; scalable, resilient systems.
• Production experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Full-stack capability from data pipeline to product surface.
• Comfort with multiple languages including Python and PHP.
• Remote work experience and ability to coordinate with UK team; Philippines-based.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural decisions across product and data platform.
• Write production code across the stack with fast AI-assisted iterations.
• Build repeatable patterns and automations for team-wide speedup.
• Lead technical discovery on complex problems and define clarity.
• Set engineering standards for quality, testing, deployment, observability, and security.
• Provide architectural guidance as the technical authority.
• Collaborate with VP Engineering to align technical direction with product ambitions.
• Contribute to data engineering from capture to databases.
