Hunt St in the Philippines is hiring a part-time Financial Controller for a remote, independent contractor role. You will own the finance function, establish accounting processes with Xero, oversee payroll, ensure compliance with Australian standards, and provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team.

The position is 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling and occasional AU business hours collaboration. Prior Australian experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or CA qualification highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Financial Controller in an Australian business.
• Experience implementing Xero and building accounting processes from the ground up.
• Experience overseeing payroll and Australian payroll compliance.
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting abilities.
• Excellent English communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial management and reporting.
• Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and executive packs.
• Provide strategic financial advice to support growth and decision-making.
• Lead Xero implementation and design accounting processes and controls.
• Take ownership of payroll oversight, compliance, and governance.
• Improve finance systems, workflows, and processes for scalability.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulations.
• Review reconciliations, GL accuracy, and month-end close.
• Develop robust financial controls and governance frameworks.
• Support external accountants, auditors, and regulatory reporting.
• Analyze business performance and profitability trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting and operations.
• Support business planning, financial modeling, and strategic decisions.
• Provide guidance to bookkeeping staff where required.
