Job summary

Med-Metrix seeks a Trainer, Medical Coding, to educate new and existing coders in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and E/M coding. You will develop modules, maintain up-to-date curricula, and deliver onboarding plus refresher training while aligning with Revenue Cycle Management practices.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to HIPAA, and ongoing certification maintenance to ensure high-quality coding education and compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or equivalent.
• CPC certification from AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA.
• Proficient with Revenue Cycle Management, E/M and Procedure Coding.
• Ability to work in a team fostered environment and adapt to changing job responsibilities, shifting schedules and workloads.
• Strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours.
• Assertive self-starter who can work independently, yet function in a team.
• Ability to plan well, prioritize work and stay calm under pressure.
• Understanding and strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing modules for medical coding and billing training (ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management).
• Develops curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs including Periodic Updates and Policy updates.
• Maintains knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Updates existing training modules.
• Develops materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessments, and qualifying exams.
• Consolidates coder scores from quizzes, exams and assessments and presents data in weekly meetings.
• Maintains certifications of staff by providing continuing education units.
• Provides onboarding training and refresher training for coders.
• Disseminates changes and updates in guidelines and rules.
• Collaborates with workgroups to resolve internal and external issues.
• Ensures compliance with Med-Metrix policies and procedures.
• Participates in monthly calibration training and creates assessments for calibration learnings.
• Consolidates calibration scores and presents data to operations.
• Supports QA/QA-related activities during account launches.
• Gives feedback for TNA, RCA, and educational note creation for QA team.
• Audits QA staff to monitor coding and auditing accuracy.
