Job summary

MicroSourcing is seeking a Legal Transcriptionist working from home to edit rough transcripts from court audio. You will ensure accuracy, format transcripts to legal standards, and identify speakers.

• Strong grammar, punctuation, and proofreading abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with ability to manage deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transcription/editing tools, with ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Edit and correct rough transcripts automatically generated from audio recordings by listening carefully to ensure accuracy.
• Make transcript and formatting changes using an online editor synchronized with the audio.
• Identify speakers and insert the correct speaker names throughout transcripts.
• Format and supplement transcripts according to legal transcript standards (Q&A format, by-lines, examination headings, exhibit-marking, recess notations).
• Conduct research to verify spelling of proper nouns (names, businesses, roads, schools, etc.).
• Research and verify technical, medical, and legal terminology as needed.
• Ensure proper grammar, punctuation, consistency, and overall transcript quality.
