Job summary

MicroSourcing International is seeking a meticulous Transcriptionist to edit and correct rough transcripts from audio, ensuring accuracy and proper formatting for legal-style transcripts. This role is work-from-home with flexible schedules.

You will identify speakers, apply Q&A formatting, insert by-lines, verify spellings of proper nouns, and polish grammar and punctuation while maintaining confidentiality and meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in court or legal transcription, with proven experience handling legal transcripts.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing audio and written transcripts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar, punctuation, and proofreading abilities.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transcription/editing tools, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive legal information.

Responsibilities

• Edit rough transcripts from audio, ensuring accuracy.
• Format transcripts with online editor synchronized to audio.
• Identify speakers and insert names throughout transcripts.
• Format transcripts per legal standards: Q&A formatting, by-lines, headings, exhibit markings, recess notations.
• Verify spelling of proper nouns, names, businesses, roads, schools.
• Research and verify technical, medical, and legal terminology as needed.
• Ensure proper grammar, punctuation, consistency, and overall transcript quality.
