Job summary

Go Lean Health is seeking a Back-Office Insurance & Prior Authorization Virtual Medical Assistant to support a US nonprofit behavioral health organization. This remote, 30-hour-per-week role focuses on enrollment, insurance verification, authorizations, and back-office processes to streamline patient care.

You will work with AdvancedMD and clinic systems, coordinating with bilingual staff and the front desk to ensure accurate documentation and timely enrollment, while maintaining HIPAA

Qualifications

• Experience with health insurance verification and prior authorization workflows.
• Experience with US commercial insurance plans and Medicaid.
• Experience using payer portals and contacting insurance companies.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
• Experience with an EHR or practice-management system.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.
• Ability to manage multiple cases with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits with insurers.
• Initiate and track prior authorization requests.
• Assess financial eligibility for nonprofit programs and follow up with patients.
• Support patient intake and enrollment documentation.
• Assist with provider credentialing and payer enrollment as needed.
• Prepare and organize patient charts and records in the EHR.
• Manage backlog, prioritize cases, and coordinate with teams.
