Job summary

GoLean Health seeks an experienced Back-Office Insurance & Prior Authorization Virtual Medical Assistant to support a US nonprofit behavioral health organization. The role centers on insurance verification, authorizations, and back-office enrollment tasks handled remotely.

You will verify eligibility, initiate authorizations, and coordinate with bilingual front-desk VMA to ensure smooth patient intake and scheduling. Strong HIPAA knowledge and English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience handling insurance verification and prior authorizations for healthcare.
• Familiar with US commercial insurance and Medicaid workflows.
• Ability to contact insurers and use payer portals.
• Solid understanding of healthcare eligibility and authorization workflows.
• Experience using an EHR or practice-management system.
• Strong documentation and data-entry accuracy.
• Excellent English communication and independent work capability.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits with plans and Medicaid.
• Initiate and process prior authorization requests per payer rules.
• Review payer information and document results in clinic systems.
• Identify missing information causing enrollment delays and follow up.
• Maintain patient intake, enrollment, and eligibility records.
• Support credentialing and payer enrollment tasks as needed.
• Prepare and update patient charts and ensure complete documentation.
