Job summary

Connext is seeking an Inpatient CDI Specialist to work with a U.S. client from the Philippines. The role reviews inpatient records to ensure diagnoses, treatments, and risk align with documentation, and to identify gaps for compliant physician queries.

You will collaborate with clinicians and coders to support accurate coding, quality reporting, and reimbursement while maintaining CDI quality and participating in audits. Remote work is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four (4) years of bedside nursing experience or at least three (3) years of ICU/ED/OR exposure with UR/CDI awareness.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems to review clinical documentation.
• Experience developing physician queries and resolving clinical documentation gaps.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG, SOI, ROM, CCs, and MCCs.
• Strong clinical judgment, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records for accuracy, completeness, and clinical consistency.
• Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear clinical documentation.
• Develop compliant physician queries to clarify clinical documentation.
• Evaluate diagnoses, procedures, severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM), complications, and comorbidities.
• Support accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and DRG assignment through clinically supported documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, coders, and clinical teams to resolve documentation questions.
• Monitor CDI quality, productivity, and query performance metrics.
• Participate in audits and quality improvement activities.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to other CDI specialists as needed.
• Follow applicable AHIMA, ACDIS, CMS, and organizational CDI guidelines.
