Job summary

Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking a Fire Alarm & Fire Protection Design Engineer for a long-term independent contractor engagement to support US-based data center projects.

The role involves modeling, designing, and analyzing fire alarm, fire protection, life safety systems, and preparing calculations, layouts, and documentation, with remote collaboration and a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (fire protection, fire alarms, electrical, mechanical, or related field).
• At least 4–5 years of experience in fire alarm and fire protection design.
• Proven expertise in design of fire alarm, fire protection, and/or life safety systems.
• Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC).
• Written and spoken English B1 and higher.
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit is required.

Responsibilities

• Model fire alarm and fire protection systems using Autodesk Revit and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Develop understanding of project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
• Determine and expedite engineering deliverables for projects.
• Maintain project scope of work documentation and revisions during design evolution.
• Design fire protection systems including fire suppression, detection, and life safety systems.
