Job summary

Ehvert Mission Critical, a Salas O’Brien business unit, seeks a Fire Alarm & Fire Protection Design Engineer for a long-term independent contractor engagement. You will model, design, and analyze life-safety systems for data center projects across the U.S., delivering calculations, layouts, and documentation.

Experience with Revit is essential. Work will be remote with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and you will support projects from schematic design through execution while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (fire protection, fire alarms, electrical, mechanical, or related field).
• At least 4−5 years of experience in fire alarm and fire protection design.
• Proven expertise in design of fire alarm, fire protection, and/or life safety systems.
• Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, FMGlobal is a plus).
• Written and spoken English B1 and higher.
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit is required.
• Experience designing systems for industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize while meeting project deadlines.
• Self-starter, ambitious, thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Using Autodesk Revit to model fire alarm and fire protection systems and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Developing understanding of project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
• Determining and expediting engineering deliverables for projects.
• Maintaining project scope of work documentation and revisions during design evolution.
• Designing fire protection systems including suppression, detection, and life safety.
• Preparing engineering calculations, hydraulic calculations, schematics, and detailed designs.
• Ensuring compliance with codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC).
• Preparing documentation for project execution (criteria, calculations, specs, data sheets).
• Reviewing shop drawings and submittals for design intent.
• Producing models/drawings in BIM and CAD tools.
• Occasional site visits to support construction progress; U.S. work visa is an asset but not required.

Role Summary

Weare seeking askilled Fire Alarm & Fire Protection Design Engineer tosupport the design and coordination ofcutting-edge data center projects across the U.S. Inthis role, you will beresponsible for modeling, designing, and analyzing fire protection systems, including fire suppression, fire detection, and life safety systems. Key Responsibilities

• Using Autodesk Revit (required) tomodel fire alarm and fireprotection systems and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Developing athorough understanding and delivery ofproject requirements asthey relate toscope, cost, and schedule.

• Preparing technical documentation required for project execution, including design criteria, calculations, specifications, and equipment data sheets.
• Reviewing shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent.
• Producing models and drawings inBIM and CAD tools.
• Performing occasional site visits tosupport construction progress (valid U.S. work visa considered an asset but not required).
