Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Specialist, Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis to apply accounting knowledge and analytical skills to deliver timely financial statements and reports. This role collaborates with internal departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data from payroll through monthly close.

The position requires preparing payroll and passthrough files, journal entries in Sage Intacct, bank reconciliations, and monthly reporting for school leadership and board treasurers,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven 3 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Payroll file preparation: prepare and update monthly payroll files, reconcile with invoices.
• Record monthly payroll expenses and update employee lists per Census.
• Prepare staffing forecasts for each school.
• Create journal entries in Sage Intacct.
• Passthrough expense file preparation: code and reconcile.
• Record monthly miscellaneous expense transactions and accruals.
• Create journal entries in Sage Intacct.
• Financial statement preparation: close files and update SFS working papers.
• Update grant tracking spreadsheets and roll forward SFS working papers.
• Maintain support documentation.
• Bank reconciliation: assist with CRJ/CDJ templates and cash flow entries.
• Analyze and record cash receipts and disbursements monthly.
• Monthly reporting: compile reports for School Leaders and Board Treasurers with detailed support.
• Update monthly sub-schedules for balance sheet accounts.
• Other tasks: update state regulatory reports as required, website postings and AFR support if applicable.
