Visa Hunt is seeking an experienced Australian Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant to deliver end-to-end bookkeeping, compliance and financial reporting for Australian clients remotely.

In this full-time role, you will handle BAS, IAS, GST, payroll and intercompany reconciliations, leveraging advanced Xero skills and strong Excel abilities. You will support multiple clients across industries with accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of Australian bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Advanced Xero proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and ATO requirements.
• Experience with BAS, IAS and GST; payroll, superannuation and STP.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for Australian clients.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Process payroll, superannuation, leave entitlements and STP.
• Maintain general ledgers and prepare journal entries.
• Prepare BAS and IAS workpapers for review and lodgement.
• Manage customer invoicing and supplier payments.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports.
• Complete balance-sheet and general-ledger reconciliations.
• Process accruals, prepayments, depreciation and adjusting journals.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow reporting.
• Prepare workpapers for financial statements and tax returns.
• Support senior accountants with ATO and statutory compliance.
• Identify accounting discrepancies, financial risks and process improvements.
• Assist with multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
