Peoplegig is seeking an Accountant / Bookkeeper to support day‑to‑day financial operations for an Australian retailer. The role covers accounts payable/receivable, payroll support, inventory reconciliation, month‑end close, and BAS/GST compliance.

The successful candidate will possess strong bookkeeping skills, work well remotely with Australian stakeholders, and maintain accurate records across high volumes of transactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and three years of bookkeeping experience.
• Experience supporting an Australian business is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of GST/BAS and payroll in Australian context.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and perform daily transactional accounting.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, settlements, and reconciliations.
• Complete month-end close, journals, and basic financial reporting.
• Reconcile sales across channels and payment gateways (PayPal, Stripe, etc.).
• Support inventory, landed costs, and cost of goods sold calculations.
• Assist with Australian compliance tasks and liaise with external accountants.
• Prepare payroll support in line with Australian requirements.
• Ensure organized documentation and data accuracy in systems.
