Job summary

Job description

• Develops, implements, and evaluates an annual school counseling and guidance plan in accordance with standards set forth by the university and accreditation agencies.
• Directs the Guidance Counselors in the orientation for new students, parents/guardians, and faculty.
• Directs the guidance counselor in giving individual and group counseling to students.
• Oversees the Guidance Counselors’ assistance to the students in building self-esteem and developing skills in decision-making, problem-solving, and a positive human relation attitude.
• Manages the consultation and collaboration with parents/guardians, teachers, staff and the Office for Student Services about any special needs of students, and makes appropriate referrals.
• Directs the Guidance Counselors’ assessments, referrals, and counseling sessions with students and families.
• Coordinates and collaborates with grievance and disciplinary committees when counseling services are needed by students/staff.
• Prepares and manages annual budget pertinent to the counseling and guidance program.
• Controls the maintenance of comprehensive guidance records and reports.
• Completes written reports as needed or as requested by Dean.
• Plans professional development activities, supervises and evaluates the work of the guidance counselor and facilitator.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs from time to time.

Job Qualifications:

• College graduate of BS Psychology program, MS/MA in Guidance and Counseling
• Must be a Registered Guidance Counselor
• At least with 1-3 years of experience in Career and Placement Counseling
• Knowledge of placement testing and career, personal and educational assessment
