Job Description

The Repossession Officer (Recovery Officer) is responsible for recovering vehicles or assets from customers who have defaulted on their payments. This role ensures that repossessions are conducted legally and efficiently while maintaining a professional and respectful approach with customers to protect the company’s reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Recovery:

• Locate and secure vehicles or assets from customers in default, in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Work closely with the Field Operations Manager to prioritize and execute repossession tasks.

Field Investigations:

• Conduct thorough investigations to determine the location of assets, including visiting the customer’s residence, workplace, and other relevant locations.
• Maintain up-to-date information on customers and assets through regular updates to the company\'s database.

Customer Communication:

• Communicate effectively with customers to inform them of the repossession process, and attempt to resolve payment issues before repossession.
• Address any concerns or queries from customers professionally and courteously.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Complete detailed reports of repossession activities, including location, condition of the asset, and any interaction with customers.
• Ensure that all legal documents, such as repossession orders, are in order and properly filed.

Compliance and Legal Adherence:

• Adhere strictly to local laws and regulations related to repossession to avoid legal complications.
• Ensure that all repossessions are conducted without breaching the peace or violating customer rights.

Coordination with Internal Teams:

• Coordinate with the collections and legal teams to ensure repossession orders are in line with customer agreements.
• Collaborate with the asset management and transportation teams to ensure recovered assets are safely secured and transported.

Safety and Security:

• Maintain personal safety and security while conducting fieldwork, ensuring the protection of company assets during recovery operations.
• Follow company protocols for dealing with difficult situations or threats during the repossession process.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business or related field is a plus.
• Proven experience in repossession, recovery, collections, or a related field.
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Familiarity with local laws regarding repossession and recovery.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel and work in the field, sometimes during unconventional hours.
