Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Excel for calculations.
• Knowledge of Philippine building practices and codes is preferred.
• Strong analytical and cost-management capabilities.

About the role

ALPA Exponential Builders Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor - Estimator to join our estimating team. This is a full-time position based in Quezon City, Metro Manila. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and providing essential financial analysis for construction projects. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring project profitability and supporting our competitive bidding process.

Key responsibilities

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects of varying complexity and scale.

• Conduct thorough quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
• Analyse and interpret project documentation to identify scope, requirements, and potential cost drivers
• Research and maintain current knowledge of material costs, labour rates, and market pricing trends
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain quotations and pricing information
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and senior estimators to refine estimates and develop competitive bids
• Prepare bill of quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns for various project phases
• Monitor and track estimate accuracy by comparing actual costs against previous estimates
• Maintain comprehensive estimating records, databases, and documentation for future reference and analysis
• Support tender submissions and provide cost-related recommendations to senior management
• Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities within project budgets
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding estimate status and project costs

What we’re looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related construction discipline
• 3-5 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator in the construction industry
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as CostOS, Buildsoft, or similar platforms
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for complex calculations and data analysis
• Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, labour practices, and industry standards
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Familiarity with Philippine building codes, regulations, and construction industry practices
• Experience with project management software and building information modelling (BIM) is advantageous
• Valid Professional License as a Civil Engineer or Quantity Surveyor is preferred
• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
