Quality Engineer - Mechanical Engineer

Job summary

Private Advertiser is looking for a Quality Engineer to safeguard product integrity and customer satisfaction in a high-volume lockset manufacturing environment.

You will support defect containment, scrap reduction, and continuous improvement under the guidance of the Senior Quality Engineer, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 where applicable and applying GD&T tolerances throughout manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 2 to 4 years of Quality Engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (Stamping, Plating, Coating, Diecast, architectural hardware, or precision assemblies preferred)
• Working knowledge of basic problem-solving methodologies and quality tools.
• Exposure to Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 requirements (advantage).
• Basic training in 8D/CAPA process, APQP/PPAP, and SPC fundamentals preferred; willingness to complete further certification supported.

Responsibilities

• Keep self safe and prioritize safety of work operations; be attentive to environmental safety and the safety of other team members.
• Build working knowledge of applicable Quality Standards (such as ANSI/BHMA standards for Grade 1, 2, and 3 mechanical and electronic smart locksets) and assist in applying them to process documentation.
• Gather input from users/operators and support the Senior Quality Engineer in developing or updating work procedures and instructions, applying basic risk-based thinking.
• Assist in reviewing assembly layouts for core components to flag precision or fit concerns.
• Participate in Quality Planning activities for New Product Introductions (NPI), supporting design reviews under the direction of senior team members.
• Assist in reviewing process design changes against blueprint tolerance and GD&T requirements, escalating discrepancies to the Senior Quality Engineer.
• Conduct scheduled line audits to check compliance with process design and standards, recording mechanical assembly tolerances and CTQ dimensions.
• Assist in verifying effectiveness of CAPA and continuous improvement actions arising from claims, audits, or internal issues.
• Receive and log customer claim reports, maintaining and updating the CAPA tracking log in a timely manner.
• Monitor and report production line abnormalities, including casting defects, tooling wear, machining drift, or surface finishing variations.

About the role

The Quality Engineer supports product integrity and customer satisfaction by executing and maintaining quality standards across the lockset manufacturing process.
