Quality Engineer – Manual & Automation Testing
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Hybrid Quality Engineer (Manual & Automation Tester) responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through both manual and automated testing approaches. The ideal candidate will be able to understand business, functional, and non-functional requirements, design and execute comprehensive test strategies, develop reusable automation scripts, and drive quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
The candidate will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and QA teams to identify defects, validate functionality, improve testing processes, and ensure software meets defined quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Analysis
- Review and understand business requirements, functional specifications, non-functional requirements, and technical design documents.
- Analyze user stories and acceptance criteria to translate requirements into testable scenarios.
- Design comprehensive test plans, test procedures, and test cases.
- Provide meaningful feedback on requirements, specifications, and technical design documents.
- Identify testing scope, risks, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Communicate testing requirements and resource needs to Test Leads and project stakeholders.
Manual Testing
- Develop and maintain detailed manual test cases and test scenarios.
- Execute functional, integration, system, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing.
- Perform UI, usability, exploratory, and regression testing.
- Verify software functionality against requirements and expected business outcomes.
- Document test results and provide detailed testing reports.
- Ensure defects are properly reproduced and documented.
Automation Testing
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain reusable automated test scripts.
- Create automation frameworks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure automated testing activities comply with organizational and customer standards.
- Execute automated test suites and analyze test execution results.
- Investigate automation failures and identify root causes.
- Improve automation coverage and efficiency across projects.
Defect Management
- Log, track, verify, and manage software defects throughout the defect lifecycle.
- Assign severity and priority levels to identified defects.
- Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve defects.
- Validate defect fixes through retesting activities.
- Perform regression testing following code changes and enhancements.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, methodologies, and testing best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and testing frameworks.
- Identify QA process bottlenecks and recommend solutions.
- Support quality audits and compliance activities.
- Maintain and distribute updated quality standards and technical documentation.
Reporting & Metrics
- Produce and maintain test execution reports, defect reports, and quality dashboards.
- Track and analyze quality assurance KPIs including:
- Defect Density
- Defect Leakage
- Defect Frequency
- First-Time Pass Rate
- Test Coverage
- Automation Coverage
- Prepare and deliver quality status updates and audit reports to stakeholders.
Leadership & Collaboration (Senior/Lead Level)
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level QA engineers.
- Participate in code reviews and automation reviews.
- Drive quality-centric software development methodologies.
- Promote best practices in testing, automation, and quality engineering.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Lead testing strategy discussions and decision-making.
Experience Requirements
5–8 Years Experience
- Strong experience in both manual and automation testing.
- Ability to independently design test strategies and automation solutions.
- Experience with test frameworks and CI/CD environments.
- Strong defect management and quality reporting skills.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks.
