We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer / SDET to support quality delivery for enterprise CRM and workflow applications, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM. This is an automation-first QA role for someone who can think like an engineer, understand test intent, write and maintain automated tests, troubleshoot failures, and work closely with developers in a fast-moving Agile environment.
We're moving toward modern code-based test automation practices, with a strong emphasis on Playwright and AI-assisted development tools. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building, maintaining, and debugging automated tests using Playwright or a comparable automation framework, and can clearly explain what they personally built, how their tests worked, what broke, and how they resolved reliability, data, selector, environment, or application issues.
This is not a manual QA-only or record-and-playback role. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in ambiguous enterprise environments where workflows, integrations, data dependencies, and requirements may not always be fully defined upfront.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong hands-on experience with code-based test automation.
- Can build, maintain, and debug automated tests using Playwright or a comparable framework.
- Understands how to triage automation failures and separate real application defects from script, data, selector, test environment, or configuration issues.
- Can work closely with Software Engineers, SDETs, Product Owners, and Scrum teams to define testable acceptance criteria and improve release quality.
- Is comfortable testing enterprise workflow applications such as CRM, onboarding, sales, service, or internal business platforms.
- Communicates clearly in English and can explain technical work, tradeoffs, blockers, and ownership in detail.
- Shows curiosity and practical usage of AI-assisted tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms to accelerate test creation, debugging, and learning.
- Can operate in incomplete or ambiguous environments by asking good questions, investigating systems and people, and creating a practical path forward.
Job Functions, Essential Duties, and Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and debug automated tests for enterprise CRM and workflow applications using Playwright or comparable code-based automation frameworks.
- Create, maintain, and execute test scenarios and test cases based on user stories, acceptance criteria, business workflows, and system integrations.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, SDETs, Product Owners, and Scrum team members to define an effective automation-first testing strategy.
- Review user stories and acceptance criteria and provide feedback on testability, coverage gaps, edge cases, and automation feasibility.
- Triage failed automated tests by analyzing logs, selectors, traces, test data, environment behavior, application changes, and defect evidence.
- Distinguish between real application defects and automation issues related to scripts, selectors, test data, timing, configuration, or environments.
- Support the team’s movement toward Playwright-based automation and help modernize or replace legacy automation approaches where applicable.
- Use Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools to create scenarios, execute tests, log defects, track work, and support release readiness.
- Assist with test data setup and validation for CRM workflows and integrated enterprise systems.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, support test creation, analyze failures, and accelerate learning.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, defect review, release planning, and retrospectives.
- Support production implementations, including release validation, smoke testing, and defect verification.
- Ensure proper handling and protection of confidential data in accordance with Ascensus security and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate Ascensus core values - People Matter, Quality First, and Integrity Always® - in day-to-day work.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Proven experience as a QA Automation Engineer, SDET, Test Automation Engineer, or similar technical QA role.
- Strong hands-on experience creating, maintaining, and debugging automated tests using Playwright or a comparable code-based automation framework such as Selenium, Cypress, WebdriverIO, TestCafe, or similar.
- Ability to code, troubleshoot, and maintain automated tests rather than relying only on manual testing, record-and-playback tools, or test execution.
- Strong understanding of test failure triage, including the ability to identify whether a failure is caused by an application defect, automation script issue, selector issue, data issue, timing issue, environment issue, or configuration problem.
- Experience testing enterprise workflow applications, such as CRM, ERP, onboarding, sales, service, financial services, insurance, healthcare, or other complex business platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret technical artifacts such as logs, JSON payloads, selectors, traces, screenshots, test reports, API responses, or defect evidence.
- Experience collaborating closely with developers and product teams to define testable requirements and improve quality earlier in the development process.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical work clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to take ownership of test creation, automation maintenance, defect analysis, and release validation each sprint.
- Comfort working in ambiguous enterprise environments where workflows, dependencies, requirements, or technical details may require investigation.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, Salesforce CRM, or similar enterprise CRM platforms.
- Experience testing sales, onboarding, service, marketing, customer data, reporting, dashboard, validation, workflow, or enterprise integration features.
- Experience migrating or modernizing automation from Selenium, Leapwork, low-code/no-code tools, record-and-playback tools, or older frameworks into Playwright or another modern code-based framework.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Azure DevOps Services, Azure DevOps Server/TFS, Jira, or similar enterprise delivery tools.
- Experience testing APIs, integrations, distributed workflows, or systems with multiple upstream/downstream dependencies.
- Ability to read and validate JSON, API responses, logs, selectors, traces, screenshots, and test execution artifacts.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools to support test generation, debugging, refactoring, documentation, or defect analysis.
- Experience in regulated, financial services, retirement, insurance, healthcare, or security-conscious environments.

- Salesforce CRM or Service Cloud testing experience.
- Experience with Leapwork or similar low-code/no-code automation tools, especially if paired with stronger code-based automation experience.
- Understanding of relational databases and SQL queries for test data validation.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or LoadRunner.
- Experience with security, accessibility, or compliance testing.
- Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), ISTQB, or similar certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
