Devex Incorporated seeks an experienced QS Electrical Engineer to prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for electrical works in large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. The role entails quantity take-offs, cost control, and collaboration with design, procurement, and construction teams to deliver cost-efficient solutions.
You will read electrical drawings and specifications, monitor costs, evaluate progress billings, and assist in negotiations and change orders.
The QS Electrical Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets, performing quantity take-offs, supporting tendering and procurement, monitoring project costs, managing contract variations, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with electrical standards and safety regulations.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for electrical works in construction and infrastructure projects
Conduct quantity take-offs for electrical materials, equipment, and labor
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and designs to ensure accurate cost planning
Monitor project costs, prepare progress reports, and track variations against budgets
Prepare and evaluate progress billings, variation orders, and change requests
Collaborate with design, procurement, and construction teams to optimize cost-effective solutions
Participate in contract negotiations and help in evaluating claims and change orders
Proven experience in electrical project cost estimation, quantity surveying, and contract management
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industry standards, and safety codes
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and QS software
Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience in large-scale MEP or construction projects
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control techniques
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents
Strong teamwork and leadership abilities, with experience mentoring junior QS staff
