Job summary

Amentum seeks a PV / BESS HMI Operator/Attendant to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will operate and maintain a 3MW PV system and a 1MW BESS to ensure safe, reliable power distribution for the island’s electrical network.

The role requires NABCEP certification preference, a high school diploma, 1–3 years of experience operating utility-scale PV/BESS, and proficiency with HMI systems. Travel, credentials, and medical/security clearances are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified solar and BESS operator (NABCEP preferred).
• 1–3 years of experience operating and maintaining utility-scale PV and BESS platforms.
• Proficient with HMI systems for PV and BESS operations.
• Able to obtain facility credentials and travel internationally.
• Must have valid passport and travel eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain 3MW PV system and 1MW BESS to ensure safe, reliable power distribution.
• Use PV/HMI and BESS HMI to collect data and optimize plant performance.
• Coordinate plant output to maintain voltage tolerances and grid stability.
• Perform watchstanding and provide operational oversight in austere environments.
• Collaborate with technical teams and ensure safety protocols and PPE compliance.
• Support system improvements and report hazards per procedures.
