OptiHR Business Solutions Inc. is looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager on behalf of one of our clients.
This is a key leadership role responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing and procurement function, ensuring that goods, materials, equipment, and services are sourced at the right quality, quantity, price, and time.
The successful candidate will lead procurement operations, strengthen supplier management, drive cost efficiencies, improve purchasing processes, and maintain strong internal controls and compliance. The role will also manage and develop a team of purchasing professionals.
Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Purchasing Department.
Manage the complete procurement cycle, including purchase request review, sourcing, canvassing, quotation analysis, negotiation, PO issuance, delivery monitoring, and supplier evaluation.
Develop and maintain a strong network and database of qualified and reliable suppliers.
Lead strategic sourcing, supplier accreditation, due diligence, and supplier performance management.
Review quotations and comparative analyses and recommend suppliers based on overall value, quality, reliability, delivery capability, and total cost.
Negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms, volume discounts, delivery schedules, warranties, logistics costs, and other commercial terms.
Identify and deliver cost savings and cost-avoidance opportunities through negotiation, alternative sourcing, consolidation, benchmarking, standardization, and process improvement.
Monitor Purchase Requests, RFQs, Purchase Orders, deliveries, and outstanding procurement requirements.
Strengthen purchasing policies, procedures, approval controls, documentation, and segregation of duties.
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and established approval authorities.
Coordinate closely with Finance, Accounting, Warehouse, Engineering, Operations, and other internal stakeholders.
Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team while establishing clear performance standards and accountability.
Prepare procurement reports and analytics covering purchasing status, supplier performance, delivery delays, cost savings, price variances, and other key metrics.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Accountancy, Economics, or a related field.
At least 5–8 years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience.
At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
Strong experience in supplier negotiation, strategic sourcing, procurement operations, and process improvement.
Experience handling a broad range of purchases, including materials, equipment, services, maintenance requirements, and operational supplies.
Experience in a multi-company, multi-site, or shared services environment is an advantage.
Procurement, Supply Chain, Purchasing, or Contract Management certification is an advantage.
You are a commercially minded procurement professional who combines strong negotiation skills with integrity, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
You should be comfortable challenging costs, identifying better sourcing options, managing supplier relationships, improving procurement controls, and leading a team in a fast-moving business environment.
Strong working knowledge of Excel, ERP/purchasing systems, procurement analytics, cost analysis, supplier management, and internal controls will be valuable in this role.
