Job summary

SalesRain, Inc. is hiring a Property Accountant to support the financial operations of a portfolio of hotels across Queensland and Victoria, Australia.

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller in Brisbane, the role requires Chartered Accountant status, a degree in Accounting or Financial Management, at least 3 years in a similar role, hospitality experience, and Xero proficiency. You will lead on-site and remote staff and contribute to forecasts and budgets.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA-qualified with degree in Accounting or Financial Management.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role.
• Experience in hotel or accommodation industry preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Xero is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and ensure timely payments.
• Oversee accounts receivable and AR ageing.
• Support payroll function including fortnightly payments.
• Prepare daily cash flow reports and forecasts.
• Manage the general ledger and month-end procedures.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations with supporting docs.
• Prepare management reports and KPI analyses.
• Assist with financial forecasts and annual budgets.
• Lead and train on-site Property Accountants and remote assistants.

About Us:

SalesRain is hiring a Property Accountant on behalf of our client. The role will work closely with on-site Property Accountants and remote Assistant Accountants to support the financial operations of a portfolio of hotels across Queensland and Victoria, Australia.

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller based in Brisbane, this opportunity is suited to a Chartered Accountant with a degree in Accounting or Financial Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of the Australian Management and Letting Rights (MLR) business model.
• Review and oversee the Accounts Payable function to ensure bills are accurately managed and paid on time.
• Review and oversee Accounts Receivable, ensuring invoices are accurate and AR ageing is properly managed.
• Review and assist with the payroll function, including fortnightly staff payments.
• Prepare daily cash flow reports and forecasts.
• Manage the General Ledger, month-end procedures and financial analysis.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepare management reports and conduct KPI analysis.
• Assist with accurate financial forecasts and annual budgets.
• Lead, manage and train Property Accountants on-site and Assistant Accountants remotely.
• Support junior team members with their professional development and further education.
• Attend remote meetings with the client's company and finance leadership team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Financial Controller and Financial Controller.
• CPA membership or membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Financial Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounting position.
• Previous experience in the hotel or accommodation industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with accounting software such as Xero is highly preferred.
