• Strong knowledge of renewable energy project development and site assessment methods.
• Experience with geotechnical investigations, foundation design and civil planning.
• Proficiency in civil engineering software and design tools; knowledge of codes.
• Good command of English; willingness to travel to project sites.

About the role

wpd Philippines Onshore, Inc. is seeking a Project Development Officer – Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Makati City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in advancing our renewable energy projects from conception through to implementation. As a Project Development Officer with a civil engineering background, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering our wind energy and solar projects across the Philippines. You will combine technical expertise with project development skills to ensure our projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for potential renewable energy project locations, including civil and environmental evaluations
• Prepare detailed project proposals and development plans, incorporating civil engineering considerations and cost-benefit analyses
• Coordinate with government agencies, local communities and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits, licences and environmental clearances
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resource allocation during the development phase
• Conduct geotechnical surveys and civil design reviews to ensure project viability and compliance with engineering standards
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, environmental specialists and project managers
• Identify and assess risks during project development, proposing mitigation strategies
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies
• Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to renewable energy projects
• Support transition of developed projects to the construction and operations phases

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional qualification
• Professional Civil Engineer in the Philippines
• 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering, project development, or a related field within the energy.
• Strong knowledge of renewable energy projects, particularly wind energy development and site assessment methodologies
• Experience with geotechnical investigations, foundation design and civil infrastructure planning
• Proficiency in civil engineering software and design tools
• Solid understanding of Philippine environmental and building codes, as well as relevant regulatory requirements
• Excellent stakeholder management and community engagement skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management abilities
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal; Filipino language skills are advantageous
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Preferred: Experience in wind energy projects, power generation or transmission infrastructure, or prior involvement in renewable energy development in Southeast Asia
