Job summary

MicroSourcing in the Philippines seeks a Senior Accountant (Oil & Gas Construction) to oversee the general ledger, month-end close, and project accounting across complex construction projects. You will work with leadership to drive profitability and operational performance.

You will analyze variances, forecast cash flow, and prepare financial statements while mentoring junior staff and developing advanced models and dashboards in Excel. Hybrid schedule with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior or general ledger role.
• Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Power Query, INDEX/MATCH and macros.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; US GAAP knowledge required.

Responsibilities

Your Role

As a Senior Accountant (Oil & Gas Construction), you will oversee financial operations, provide strategic financial insights, and ensure accurate reporting across complex construction projects. You will take ownership of the general ledger, financial analysis, month-end close, and project accounting while partnering with leadership to drive profitability and operational performance.

What You'll Do

• Conduct detailed variance analysis comparing actual project costs against project bids and Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs).
• Analyze monthly gross profit by project, asset type, and crew to identify trends and improve profitability.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for executive management.
• Forecast cash flow based on project milestones, vendor payment schedules, and customer billing timelines.
• Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation and posting of complex journal entries.
• Maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and ensure accurate revenue recognition using the Percentage of Completion method.
• Manage depreciation and amortization of heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, and other capital assets.
• Review and audit the work of junior accounting staff to ensure accurate job costing and financial records within QuickBooks Online.
• Develop advanced financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools using Microsoft Excel.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts, equity transactions, and credit facilities while coordinating with external auditors during financial audits.

What You Need

• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior accounting or general ledger role.
• Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including INDEX/MATCH, Power Query, and macros.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, capital asset accounting, and construction revenue recognition principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in oil and gas, pipeline services, heavy civil construction, industrial contracting, or project-based accounting.
• CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience with work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and Percentage of Completion revenue recognition.
