JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the station’s programming and oversees the different departments and staff to ensure that the station always sounds its best and suits the needs of its listeners.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• o In charge of the sound of the radio station
• o Organizing promos and making sure that DJ’s are informed about stations promos and events.
• o Checking music logs to make sure they’re accurate.
• o Working with the music director to produce logs for the day and coordinate interviews with celebrities and musicians also managing schedules of programming.
• o Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in preparation of radio program schedules.
• o Confer with directors and production staff to discuss issues such as production and casting problems, budgets, policies, and news coverage.
• o Coordinate activities between departments, such as news and programming.
• o Plan and schedule programming and event coverage based on broadcast length, time availability, and other factors such as community needs, ratings data and viewer demographics.
• o Conduct interviews for broadcasts.
• o Develop ideas for programs and features that a station could produce.
• o Operate and maintain on-air and production audio equipment.
• o Initiating and setting goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization
• o Planning the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes
• o Manages client implementations for on-air staff (Anchors/DJs)

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

• o With excellent communication skills and able to maintain a pleasant controlled voice with good pronunciation and word timing.
• o Must be adept at handling different technical broadcast equipment.
• o Must have a strong voice and personality which will help attract different listeners.
• o Should be well acquainted with all types of music from contemporary to classic.
