Department: News/Media
Reports to: News Director/Editor
Key Responsibilities
- Research and Gather Information: Investigate news stories, events, and topics by conducting interviews, reviewing press releases, and attending events; verify facts and cross-check sources to ensure accurate reporting.
- Content Creation: Write clear, concise, and engaging scripts for radio broadcasts; record and edit audio segments, ensuring high-quality production; provide live or pre-recorded reports from the studio or on location.
- Broadcasting: Present news updates, feature stories, or breaking news in a compelling manner; collaborate with producers and technical teams to ensure smooth on-air delivery; respond quickly to breaking news and deliver real-time updates.
- Audience Engagement: Adapt reporting style to resonate with the target audience; interact with listeners via calls, social media, or other platforms to gather feedback or additional information.
- Networking and Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with sources, industry professionals, and community members; work closely with editors, fellow reporters, and producers to align content with the station\'s goals.
- Administrative Tasks: Meet deadlines for submitting scripts, audio clips, or live reports; stay updated on current events, industry trends, and station policies; strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent research and fact-checking abilities; proficiency in audio recording and editing software; ability to perform under pressure, especially during live broadcasts; strong understanding of journalistic ethics and standards; comfortable with public speaking and on-air presence.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience in radio or journalism is an advantage.
- Familiarity with newsroom tools and broadcasting equipment.
