Job summary

Radio Mindanao Network, Inc. is seeking a diligent journalist to research and write unbiased news stories, rewrite wire copy, and craft crisp reports for publication or broadcast. You will support producers and monitor wires for breaking news to ensure timely delivery across programs.

Job description

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• o Perform research and write unbiased and factual news stories, re-write wire copy and develop crisp news story.
• o Coordinate with producer to provide support producers in event of absence or extra work.
• o Monitor all wires feeds to gather latest breaking news for writing news for publication or airing.
• o Develop and write news stories that address interest of customers.
• o Design and edit news for reading by anchors and communicate appropriate stories to audience.
• o Develop bridges and other articles to broadcast during interval of news stories.
• o Perform copy editing of scripts for accuracy, factual content and correct language.
• o Prepare and complete scripts to achieve time schedule.
• o Provide assistance to reporters to prepare live field coverage and ensure good quality sound and video capture.
• o Writes news stories for publication or broadcast from written or recorded notes supplied by reporting staff
• o Verifies accuracy of questionable facts and obtains supplemental material and additional details from files, reference libraries and interviews with knowledgeable sources
• o Conducting research to uncover interesting and significant news
• o Gathering, corroborating and interpreting data
• o Interviewing key persons (witnesses, sources etc.) to obtain more information
• o Serving as over-all coordinator attending to every needed requirement of the EP, writers and reporters before, during and after the program.
• o Manages phone, radio calls and SMS inquiries from both the listeners and the in-house station personnel
• o Assists in every program transitions and writes reports correctly on the prompter
• o Updates the station’s directory of phone numbers for all government and private news persons or sources.
