Job Summary
The Production Lead is responsible for supervising daily production operations and ensuring that manufacturing targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. In a small manufacturing environment, the role is highly hands‑on and involves leading a small team, coordinating workflow, troubleshooting operational issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operations
- Lead and supervise daily production activities to ensure output, quality, and delivery targets are met.
- Assign tasks and monitor workflow to maximize efficiency of manpower and equipment.
- Operate machinery and assist in production when necessary.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust priorities based on operational requirements.
- Ensure smooth and continuous production flow while minimizing downtime.
2. Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide production staff including operators, helpers, and technicians.
- Ensure employees follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Train new employees and provide on‑the‑job coaching to improve skills and productivity.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, accountability, and a positive working environment.
- Monitor employee attendance and performance on the production floor.
3. Quality Control
- Ensure finished products meet company quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct in‑process inspections and immediately address quality issues.
- Coordinate with management or quality personnel on corrective and preventive actions.
- Support initiatives that improve product quality and reduce defects.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety policies and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Identify, report, and address safety hazards or equipment issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable labor and safety regulations.
- Promote a safe and organized work environment within the production area.
5. Inventory & Materials
- Monitor raw materials, work‑in‑progress (WIP), and finished goods during production.
- Coordinate with Warehouse or Purchasing to prevent material shortages.
- Minimize material waste and report discrepancies or production losses.
6. Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare daily production reports including output, manpower utilization, downtime, and issues encountered.
- Communicate production status, delays, and operational concerns to management.
- Assist in planning and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Qualifications & Skills
- At least2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
- Experience as aTeam Leader, Line Leader, or Senior Operatoris an advantage.
- Strong understanding ofbasic manufacturing processes and production workflow.
- Provenleadership and team supervision skills.
- Hands‑on, flexible, and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basiccomputer skillsfor production reporting and inventory monitoring.
- Goodcommunication, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
