Production Estimator / Scheduler, Western Australian Residential

About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Production Estimator to join our Estimating team, specializing in the Western Australian residential building market. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing cost, scheduling, accurate material quantification, precise ordering, and margin control across single-storey, two-storey, and multi-unit residential projects. You will work closely with Western Australian construction plans, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to review contract documentation, generate Bills of Quantities, price client variations, and manage display home scheduling, ensuring projects transition smoothly from early concept costing to site start, all while maintaining high quality, code compliance, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating & Procurement: Produce accurate material and labor take-offs, generate comprehensive Bills of Quantities, and issue purchase orders for trade partners, suppliers, and display home projects.
- Concept & Variation Costing: Calculate early-stage costing for base models, custom designs, and optional upgrades, and issue precise costing for pre-start and active construction variations.
- Document Review & Verification: Review and interpret architectural drawings, engineering details, working drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure complete deal integrity prior to site start.
- Financial Analysis & Value Management: Complete comprehensive cost and margin analyses, identifying efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities without compromising design or quality.
- Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure all estimates, documentation, and purchase orders strictly comply with National Construction Code standards, Western Australian building codes, and company margin targets.
- Stakeholder & Construction Support: Liaise directly with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve pricing, ordering, and technical discrepancies, supporting site teams with ongoing job inquiries.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize estimating workflows, enhance process accuracy, and deliver high-precision job files within agreed SLAs.
About you:
- Western Australia Market Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct experience in the Western Australian residential housing market, with strong familiarity with Western Australian building methods, trade pricing, and local codes.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven background in residential Production Estimating and Scheduling across single-storey, two-storey, and multi-unit developments.
- Technical & Software Skills: Demonstrated ability to interpret architectural drawings, site plans, and engineering details. Advanced proficiency in Bills of Quantities Estimating Software and MS Excel is mandatory; working knowledge of ArchiCAD or Auto Sketch is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: High level of numerical accuracy, commercial acumen, and sharp attention to detail across variation pricing and pre-start workflows.
- Self-Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently under tight timeframes.
- Communication: Very good to excellent oral and written English communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external trade partners.
