The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, equipment, and other items required by the Company in a timely and cost-effective manner. The role involves working closely with requesting departments, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure that purchased items meet the required technical specifications, quality standards, quantity, cost, and delivery requirements.
The position will also support supplier sourcing and evaluation, quotation and price negotiation, purchase order processing, delivery monitoring, inventory coordination, and ERP system updates.
Identify, evaluate, and source qualified suppliers based on technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
Review purchase requisitions and technical specifications from requesting departments to ensure requirements are clearly understood before procurement.
Request and evaluate quotations from existing and potential suppliers and conduct price and commercial comparisons.
Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, favorable terms, quality, and delivery commitments.
Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) by verifying item specifications, quantities, pricing, and required delivery dates.
Coordinate with suppliers regarding suitable alternative or substitute materials/items, subject to the requesting department’s technical review and approval.
Monitor, follow up, and expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of required materials and components.
Verify delivered items against the purchase order and receiving documents, including specifications, quantity, and condition.
Coordinate with suppliers and concerned departments to resolve discrepancies, shortages, incorrect deliveries, and quality-related issues.
Update the ERP system and complete the necessary incoming shipment/receiving transactions upon receipt of purchased items.
Review the lacking parts and coordinate the procurement of required materials.
Process purchase order requests for lacking parts upon proper verification and approval.
Monitor supplier commitments and delivery schedules and regularly update the lacking parts report.
Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier information, quotations, purchase orders, and delivery status.
Support supplier performance monitoring and evaluation, including cost, quality, responsiveness, and delivery performance.
Coordinate closely with Production Planning, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Warehouse, and other requesting departments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Perform other procurement-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
With background in procurement, sourcing, or materials management.
Preferably with experience in the electronics manufacturing industry, particularly SMT or related manufacturing operations.
Experience in procuring electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts, tooling, and other manufacturing materials is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings, BOMs, components, and material requirements.
Good negotiation, supplier management, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple requirements, and meet delivery deadlines.
Willing to work on-site and support the fast-paced requirements of an electronics manufacturing environment.
