What You Will Be Doing
The Process Design Engineer will play a key role in developing high-quality process designs for water, wastewater, desalination, and sludge treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, company standards, and local and international regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise in process engineering, excellent multidisciplinary coordination skills, and the ability to deliver design outputs within schedule, quality requirements, and allocated engineering budgets.
Process Design Engineering
Prepare conceptual, basic, and detailed process designs for water, wastewater, desalination, and sludge treatment projects during both Proposal and Execution phases.
Develop And Maintain
- Design and Calculation Notes
- Process Calculation Reports
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Mass Balances
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Process Control Philosophies
- Process Design Reports
Process and Hydraulic Calculations
Perform process calculations and hydraulic analyses to validate design assumptions and ensure performance requirements are met.
Perform Process Calculations Including
- Treatment process sizing
- Chemical consumption calculations
- Sludge production calculations
- Equipment sizing verification
- Energy consumption assessments
Hydraulic Calculations (Project‑specific)
- Network Hydraulics
- Pressure Line Hydraulics (Pump and Line)
- Gravity Line Hydraulics
- Plant Hydraulics
- Hydraulic Gradient Line
- Valve Hydraulics
Cost Estimation and Proposal Support
Support Proposal Development Activities By:
- Preparing process design inputs
- Defining process equipment requirements
- Providing sizing criteria
- Supporting CAPEX and OPEX evaluations
- Reviewing technical specifications / Preparation of Process Datasheets
- Support in providing technical clarifications during tender stages
Coordinate with procurement, electrical, mechanical, and civil teams to ensure consistency in proposal submissions.
Project Coordination and Multidisciplinary Interface Management
Interface With

HSE in the Proposal and Design Phase
Integrate HSE requirements into process designs to ensure safe operation, maintenance accessibility, and risk mitigation throughout the plant lifecycle. Conduct Design Risk Assessments (DRA) and identify hazards associated with:
- Chemical handling systems
- Process equipment operation
- Sludge treatment systems
- Confined spaces
- Maintenance activities
- Participation in HAZOP and other risk assessment workshops as required
HSE in the Construction Phase
Provide process engineering support to site HSE resources when required and assist in resolving process‑related safety concerns.
Quality Responsibilities (Proposal and Execution Phases)
Ensure All Process Engineering Deliverables Comply With

Maintain proper documentation and traceability of design calculations and decisions. Provide technical support during commissioning activities and assist site quality teams when required.

Who We Are Looking For
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
- Licensed Chemical Engineer preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience.
- Process Design, Water & Wastewater Treatment, Process Simulation, Hydraulic Calculations, PFD/P&ID Development, HAZOP Participation, Technical Report Writing.
- Proven experience in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, desalination facilities, sludge treatment systems, industrial water projects.
