Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Principal Test Engineering lead to head the Sustaining and Enhancement Test Engineering team in the Philippines.

This hands-on leadership role requires managing a team of Test Engineers while staying active in day-to-day test engineering work across analog, power, and mixed-signal semiconductor products. The ideal candidate will have strong test engineering fundamentals, platform-agnostic TE experience, and the ability to rapidly ramp on new systems,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• At least 10 years of semiconductor test engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of people management or team leadership within TE/PE.
• Strong platform-agnostic expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
• Hands-on experience with J750, SPEA, and Eagle testers preferred.
• Proven experience in production sustaining, yield improvement, and ECO management.
• Advanced statistical skills: MSA, GRR, ANOVA for yield/quality improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; cross-site collaboration.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and automation-driven practices (advantage).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Test Engineers at the Philippines site.
• Set objectives aligned with BU goals and KPIs.
• Coordinate workload and resource planning across sustaining projects.
• Identify training needs and drive skill development.
• Remain hands-on in day-to-day test engineering work.
• Drive test program enhancements for yield and efficiency.
• Approve engineering changes affecting test flows and programs.
• Resolve test escapes, production issues, and quality concerns.
• Coordinate with Product Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Manufacturing.
• Promote best practices, workflows, and automation across the team.
• Track metrics like yield, escapes, cycle time, and project status.
• Apply statistical methods to drive data-informed decisions.
• Serve as liaison across Philippines, US, and global teams.
