Microchip Technology is seeking an experienced Principal Test Engineering lead to lead the Sustaining and Enhancement Test Engineering team.
This is a hands-on working leadership role. The successful candidate manages a team of Test Engineers while remaining personally active in day-to-day test engineering work across analog, power, and mixed-signal semiconductor products.
The ideal candidate brings strong test engineering fundamentals and platform-agnostic depth across ATE environments, with the ability to ramp quickly on new systems, combined with the leadership skills to guide and develop a high-performing team
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and develop Test Engineers at PTC Philippines
- Set team objectives aligned with Business Unit goals and team KPIs
- Coordinate workload distribution and resource planning across sustaining projects
- Identify training needs and drive skill development across the team
- Stay engaged in technical work to maintain credibility and support team delivery
Hands-On Test Engineering: Sustaining & Enhancement
- Perform and lead sustaining activities including test program maintenance, debug, and optimization across multiple ATE platforms
- Drive test program enhancements to improve yield, throughput, test coverage, and test time
- Review and approve engineering changes impacting test flows and programs
- Participate directly in resolving test escapes, production failures, and quality issues — including floor-level debug when needed
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions with Product Engineering and Quality teams
- Lead or co-lead enhancement projects to expand test coverage, reduce escapes, or improve test economics
- Serve as the primary test engineering liaison; coordinate with Test Operations, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams
- Champion test engineering best practices, standardized workflows, and task automation initiatives across the team
- Track and report key metrics: test yield, test escapes, cycle time, and project status
- Apply advanced statistical analysis (MSA, GRR, ANOVA) to drive data-informed decisions on yield and quality improvement

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of semiconductor test engineering experience
- At least 3 years of people management or team leadership experience within a Test Engineering (TE) or Product Engineering (PE) environment
- Strong platform-agnostic expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) engineering
- Deep understanding of test methodologies and engineering fundamentals
- Proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tester platforms and systems
- Hands-on experience with J750, SPEA, and Eagle testers is preferred
