Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking a Principal Mining Engineer for Didipio Mine in the Philippines. You will develop long-term mine plans aligned with strategy, integrating technical, operational, and economic inputs to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable outcomes.

Lead Life of Mine studies, optimize schedules, and mentor engineering staff while promoting safety. Extensive underground experience and proficiency in Deswik CAD are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Extensive underground mine planning experience (open stoping preferred) with minimum 10 years.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning and scheduling principles and sustainable mining.
• Expert proficiency in Deswik CAD and Scheduling Suite.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, including technical reports and presentations.

• Coordinate quarterly and long-term planning across technical and operational teams.
• Monitor and update mine plans based on performance and priorities.
• Conduct scenario analysis and trade-off studies for decisions.

Job Description

Didipio Mine is undergoing a significant underground growth and infrastructure expansion phase. With continued operational ramp-up and long-term development opportunities, this is an exciting time to join the operation and play a key role in shaping its future.

The Principal Mining Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining long-term mine plans that support the company’s strategic and operational objectives. The role ensures alignment across long, mid, and short-term planning horizons while integrating technical, operational, infrastructure, and economic inputs to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable mining outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimisation of Life of Mine plans, production schedules, and infrastructure requirements.
• Coordinate quarterly and long-term planning activities across technical and operational teams.
• Monitor and update mine plans based on operational performance and business priorities.
• Conduct scenario analysis and trade-off studies to support operational and investment decisions.
• Develop and maintain mine planning standards, systems, and engineering procedures.
• Support safe and efficient mining operations through effective planning and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Build strong working relationships across site and corporate teams to support integrated planning and operational delivery.
• Mentor and develop engineering personnel while promoting a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Extensive mine planning experience within an underground mining environment preferably open stoping (minimum 10 years).
• Strong knowledge of mine planning, scheduling principles and sustainable mining practices.
• Expert proficiency in Deswik CAD and Scheduling Suite.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and presentation across the business
• Exposure to international mining practices considered highly advantageous
