Private Advertiser in the Philippines seeks a Pollution Control Officer (PCO) to ensure compliance with DENR-EMB laws, manage environmental reports, and coordinate with agencies. The PCO will monitor waste streams, emissions, and waste handling.
The role also involves maintaining documentation, supporting environmental program implementation, inspections, and advising management on improvements. DENR-accredited PCO certification and 1–2 years’ experience are preferred; strong Excel/Word skills
We are looking for a Pollution Control Officer (PCO) who will be responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and requirements. The PCO will monitor the company’s environmental practices, maintain required documentation and reports, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and help implement programs that minimize environmental impact.
Ensure compliance with applicable DENR-EMB environmental laws, regulations, permits, and requirements.
Monitor the company’s compliance with environmental management and pollution control requirements.
Prepare, maintain, and submit required environmental reports, permits, registrations, and other documents to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
Monitor and maintain records related to hazardous waste, solid waste, wastewater, air emissions, and other environmental aspects, as applicable to company operations.
Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous and regulated wastes.
Coordinate with accredited environmental service providers, contractors, laboratories, and other third parties when necessary.
Conduct regular inspections of company facilities to identify potential environmental risks and non-compliance.
Recommend corrective and preventive actions for identified environmental concerns.
Assist in the implementation of environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
Maintain updated records and documentation for environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with the DENR-EMB and other relevant government agencies regarding environmental compliance matters.
Provide guidance and awareness to employees regarding proper waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental practices.
Monitor the validity and compliance status of environmental permits and registrations.
Assist management in addressing environmental incidents, findings, and corrective actions.
Prepare regular environmental compliance updates and reports for management.
Perform other related duties that may be assigned by management.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
DENR-accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO) certification is required/preferred, depending on the applicable regulatory requirements.
At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, pollution control, or environmental management.
Knowledge of DENR-EMB regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
Familiarity with hazardous waste management and environmental documentation is an advantage.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented and capable of monitoring multiple compliance requirements and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
Willing to conduct site inspections and coordinate with government agencies and external service providers.
Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with different departments.
Knowledge of RA 8749 – Clean Air Act
Knowledge of RA 9275 – Clean Water Act
Knowledge of RA 9003 – Ecological Solid Waste Management Act
Knowledge of RA 6969 – Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act
Familiarity with DENR-EMB online reporting and compliance systems is an advantage.
