Job summary

A leading environmental compliance firm in the Philippines is seeking an Environmental Officer to manage regulatory compliance and engage in environmental protections. Qualifications

• DENR-EMB-Accredited Pollution Control Officer.
• Experience in Manufacturing/Production Operations is a plus.
• Experience in manufacturing or quarry environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Attend to necessary permits for environmental protection.
• Act as Liaison Officer with DENR-MGB and Pollution Control Officers.
• Ensure compliance with government agencies.
• Ensure compliance reporting to government agencies.
• Oversee hazardous material and waste storage procedures.
• Implement recycling and waste reduction programs.
• Coordinate with management and staff on environmental awareness.
• Execute action plans to meet IMS objectives, targets, and programs.

Job description

Responsible to all regulatory & statutory compliance engaging in environmental protections and environmental compliance, which the main goal is to provide and establish companies Objective, Targets and Programs, that will help the company and the organization on the preservation of our natural resources, reduce the generations of the company waste and establish proper mitigation on pollutions controls in the environment aspect and impact on air, land, water, flora and fauna and human living. He/ she shall perform the following:

Key focus areas the role will include:

• Attending to the requirements of the company in securing necessary permits on environmental protection concerns and renewal thereof.
• Act as Liaison Officer and Coordinator with DENR-MGB and with provincial, municipal and local Pollution Control Officers.
• Undertaking inspections, investigations, monitoring, sampling and reporting of information required for the relevant regulatory regime for a specific work area.
• Ensuring compliance and updated reporting to respective government agencies.
• Ensure proper procedures for hazardous material, hazardous waste storage and management.
• Implement programs for recycling & reuse of materials to conserve natural resources, prevent pollution, and minimize the generation of waste.
• Conducts audit and evaluation to Waste Hauler, Transporter and Treater.
• Ensures company generated wastes are properly disposed; secure Certificate of Treatment of Hazardous waste.
• Coordinates with relevant personnel (Management and rank and file) whose responsibility and accountability into environmental aspect is needed to improve the environmental awareness of relevant sections/ groups.
• Perform the action plans related to their respective activities to meet the Integrated Management System Objectives, Targets, and Programs.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:

• Bachelor's/College Degree in Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety), or equivalent.
• DENR-EMB-Accredited Pollution Control Officer
• High level of knowledge of relevant regulations, compliance and statutory obligation
• Experience in Manufacturing/Production Operations or equivalent is a plus.
• The successful candidate will have a qualification of a BS Environmental Management or any related degree.
• Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment or a quarry is highly desirable.
• A strong knowledge of quality, engineering standards and government regulations.
