Job summary

Aussie Broadband in Philippines is seeking a highly skilled platform engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable, secure, and observable systems. You will drive reliability, automation, and IaC practices across on-prem and cloud-like environments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to architectural decisions, standards, and documentation to support business growth.

Qualifications

• Open-source focus and continuous improvement mindset.
• Telco industry understanding is a plus.
• Experience designing highly available distributed systems.
• Hands-on Kubernetes with on-prem and upstream environments.
• Proficiency with GitOps and automation tooling.
• Security-first approach in platform design and operations.
• Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Jaeger).
• Experience with multi-cluster architectures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the security, reliability, and availability of critical systems.
• Design and evolve platform architecture to deliver scalable, observable and secure solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across a broad range of experience and skills to deliver business outcomes.
• Deliver highly available, scalable and resilient platforms and services to support business growth and initiatives.
• Build, automate and enhance on-premises containerised & virtualised workloads with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support development teams by providing platform capabilities, tooling and environments that accelerate delivery.
• Champion reliability practices, including monitoring, alerting, incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Continuously improve platform performance, cost-efficiency and developer experience through proactive engineering and feedback loops.
• Contribute to technical documentation, standards and knowledge sharing across the engineering organisation.
• Act as an escalation point and provide technical guidance and support to other members of the systems team, helping resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and help develop junior team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical training.
• Take ownership of delivering assigned projects and business outcomes end-to-end, applying established architectural and design patterns with minimal oversight.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure platform reliability and rapid response to critical incidents.
