Job summary

AS White Global is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale core platforms, ensuring resilience, security and efficiency for a major Australian telco.

You will own architecture, collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement IaC and CI/CD pipelines, and work on on-prem and modern platforms, while mentoring juniors and participating in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expert Linux system administration for highly available, distributed production systems in Telco environments.
• Hands-on Kubernetes expertise (on-prem/upstream) including cluster lifecycle, performance tuning, service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), multi-cluster architectures.
• Advanced Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm) and GitOps CI/CD tooling (ArgoCD, Flux) for scalable delivery.
• Deep knowledge of containerized/virtualized networking concepts (BGP, Load Balancing, Ingress/Egress, eBPF/XDP, VPP).
• Security-first design mindset with full observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger).
• Go or Python scripting with interest in CNCF/OCI open-source standards and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

• Maintain the security, reliability, and availability of Aussie Broadband’s critical systems infrastructure.
• Design and evolve platform architecture to deliver scalable, observable and secure solutions for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across a broad range of experience and skills to deliver business outcomes.

• Continuously improve platform performance, cost-efficiency and developer experience through proactive engineering and feedback loops.
• Contribute to technical documentation, standards and knowledge sharing across the engineering organisation.
• Act as an escalation point and provide technical guidance and support to other members of the systems team, helping resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and help develop junior team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical training.

• Take ownership of delivering assigned projects and business outcomes end-to-end, applying established architectural and design patterns with minimal oversight.

Key Criteria

Work setup:

• Manila (BGC, Taguig): Australian hours (6:00am–3:00pm PHT) with a flexible work arrangement.
