Qualifications

Job description

The Plantation Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and supervision of all plantation activities, including land development, nursery operations, planting, maintenance, harvesting, and field development. The role ensures that plantation operations are carried out efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with environmental, safety, and sustainability standards. The manager plays a key role in maximizing yield per hectare, optimizing labor utilization, and ensuring long-term plantation productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all plantation operations, including land clearing, nursery management, transplanting, and field establishment.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance activities such as fertilization, pruning, pest and disease control, and weed management.
• Manage harvesting operations to ensure the timely collection of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) with optimal quality standards.
• Monitor crop performance, yield levels, and field productivity to achieve production targets.
• Supervise and coordinate field staff and laborers, including work assignments, performance monitoring, and discipline.
• Develop and implement operational plans, work programs, and plantation development strategies.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets, cost controls, and input utilization to ensure financial efficiency.
• Maintain and improve plantation infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, irrigation, and field facilities.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and sustainability requirements (e.g., RSPO).
• Prepare and submit regular operational reports covering production, field conditions, labor performance, and challenges.
• Coordinate with management and technical teams to support continuous improvement in plantation productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plantation Management, or a related field (specialization in oil palm is preferred).
• At least 3–5 years of experience in managing or supervising large-scale oil palm plantation operations.
• Strong knowledge of oil palm agronomy, field operations, harvesting systems, and plantation maintenance practices.
• Proven experience in manpower supervision, operational planning, and cost control management.
• Familiarity with plantation mapping, GPS-based monitoring systems, and agricultural reporting tools.
• Knowledge of RSPO or other sustainability certification standards is an advantage.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate field teams effectively.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in field-based environments and manage multiple operational priorities under pressure.
