Job Summary

The Payroll Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring payroll operations comply with Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), Modern Awards, superannuation requirements, and internal governance controls.


This role focuses on payroll auditing, compliance monitoring, data analysis, risk management, and process improvement to support accurate and compliant payroll outcomes.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Conduct payroll compliance testing and transactional audits across payroll and time & attendance systems, including UKG Dimensions, PayGlobal, and similar platforms.

  • Investigate payroll discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate compliance risks.

  • Maintain and update the Payroll Compliance Risk Register.

  • Support internal and external audits through the preparation of reports, data extracts, and audit documentation.

  • Monitor and interpret changes to Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), Modern Awards, and superannuation regulations.

  • Ensure payroll processes, controls, and system configurations remain compliant with legislative and industrial requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, governance controls, and compliance frameworks.

  • Review and update payroll procedures and documentation to support operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

  • Analyze large payroll datasets to identify anomalies, trends, and compliance risks while ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

  • Generate and review payroll compliance reports and metrics for management and key stakeholders.

  • Partner with Payroll Operations, HR, Legal, Internal Audit, and IT teams to address compliance requirements and resolve escalated payroll matters.

  • Provide guidance on payroll legislation, award interpretation, and payroll compliance best practices.


Qualifications


  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll compliance, governance, audit, or payroll operations within a large and complex organization.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), Modern Awards, and superannuation requirements.

  • Experience with payroll workforce management systems is preferred; exposure to UKG Dimensions, PayGlobal, or similar platforms is advantageous.

  • Advanced Excel and payroll data analysis skills.

  • Experience supporting high-volume payroll environments across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
