Job description

The Patient Safety Officer will ensure effective patient safety management by reviewing event reports, coordinating with departments, supporting committee proceedings, and monitoring the implementation of corrective actions while upholding strict confidentiality.


He/she will contribute to clinical audit and compliance by supporting regulatory standards, conducting compliance checks, analyzing safety data, and assisting in performance evaluations. The position will foster collaboration and reporting through meeting coordination, communication of QPS updates, active participation in emergency and organizational initiatives, and continuous


Patient Safety Management



  • Reviews and consolidates reported patient safety events from the hospital’s safety event reporting system.

  • Coordinates with different units and departments to gather patient safety event reports for evaluation.

  • Supports the Department Manager in documenting discussions, recommendations, and agreements from Risk Reduction and Management Committee (RRMC) meetings,

  • Resuscitation Services meetings, root cause analysis (RCA) sessions, focus group discussions, and other collaborative meetings.

  • Participates in compliance checks and monitors the implementation of action items outlined in the Memorandum of Success (MOS) to ensure that recommendations and agreements from proceedings are carried out.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient safety-related records, documents, and patient information.


Clinical Audit and Compliance



  • Works with the Clinical Audit and Compliance team to conduct compliance checks on actions identified during RRMC proceedings and focus group discussions, ensuring follow-through and evaluation within agreed timelines.

  • Coordinates with the Performance Measures team in performing statistical and exploratory data analysis of patient safety events.

  • Collaborates with the Accreditation and Certification team in addressing regulatory standards on patient safety, including Joint Commission International Patient Safety

  • Goals and the Department of Health’s National Patient Safety Policy.

  • Actively participates in calibration of departmental or group performance evaluation results, as required by the Immediate Superior or Group Head.


Collaboration and Reporting



  • Prepares and organizes logistics for departmental, collaborative, and functional group meetings where the department or Immediate Superior is involved.

  • Communicates QPS-related announcements, updates, and documents to the relevant units across the organization.

  • Engages in emergency incident response activities when directed by the Immediate

  • Superior or Hospital Leadership.

  • Participates in organization-wide

  • Attends coaching and mentoring sessions to boost productivity, optimize skills, and contribute to professional development.

  • Completes statutory and mandatory training and participates in continuous learning programs relevant to the role.


Experience/Education Requirements:



  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing or any Allied Healthcare Profession

  • With at least two (2) years of related clinical experience

  • Basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple areas of the hospital

  • Leadership/managerial experience is preferred, but not required


License or Certification Requirements:



  • Active PRC License in Nursing

  • Preferably with Certifications related to field of expertise (e.g Lean Six Sigma, Certified
